From Hopyard Farm you can cycle and pick up the Monmouth-Brecon canal- (Bridge 98 in Govilon).

Turn left and follow canal towards Newport (Bridge 45).

Good stopping point is Goytre Wharf (Bridge 74).

Turn right in Govilon and follow canal all the way to Brecon (Bridge 166) http://www.waterscape.com/media/documents/22909.pdf

Alternatively for another traffic free trail cycle along the old railway line. Pick up track in Govilon and cycle on gradual incline up to Brynmawr alternatively follow track down to Abergavenny. Part of Sustrans Route 46.

For a ride around the country lanes try the Four Castles Route. A beautiful scenic 32 mile circular route taking in the castles of Abergavenny, Skenfrith, Grosmont and Whitecastle. http://www.monmouth.org.uk/Leisure/cycling.aspx Mountain biking is possible for everybody in the Brecon Beacons.

Abergavenny is the start of many circular routes for road racing. Perfect grounds for practising that sportiff you've entered.

Only 20 minutes away Cwmcarn offers downhill and cross country rides. A manmade track is ideal for less experienced but also the elite mountain bikers.
